Buyer's premium:

A pair of vintage British Rail History commemorative postal covers, both issued in 1975 to celebrate landmark moments in railway history.
• The first cover marks the 150th Anniversary of the Stockton and Darlington Railway, featuring the locomotive “4767 George Stephenson”, postmarked August 25, 1975 (Shildon, Co. Durham). The engine was named by William Whitelaw, Conservative politician and Deputy Leader at the time.
• The second cover commemorates the Horwich Works Open Day (1975), featuring the “Aspinall Atlantic” locomotive built at Horwich in 1899, postmarked August 30, 1975 (Horwich, Bolton).

Both covers display the 7p “Locomotion No. 1” stamp, part of the Royal Mail’s 1975 Railway Anniversary issue, celebrating Britain’s pioneering railway heritage.

In excellent condition, ideal for collectors of railway memorabilia or British postal history.
