A used postage stamp from Cyprus, issued in 1989, depicting the ‘Paphos Mosaics – Orpheus, 3rd Cent. A.D.’ (SG 764, Mi:CY 738, Sn:CY 745, Yt:CY 736, Un:CY 737). This rectangular, perforated paper stamp features a central image of a robed figure playing a lyre, accompanied by a bird and a deer, consistent with the Orpheus mosaic. Below the central image, the text reads ‘ORPHEUS, 3RD CENT. MOSAIC, ‘ ‘KYΠΡΟΣ, ‘ ‘CYPRUS, ‘ ‘KIBRIS, ‘ along with the year ‘1989’ and a denomination of ’18c.’ A prominent, partial black cancellation mark is visible across the lower left and central areas of the stamp.
