Offered here is a classic French Épée-Baïonnette Modèle 1866, designed for use with the Chassepot rifle. This bayonet features a yataghan-style curved blade measuring approximately 57 cm (22.5 inches), with a total length of approximately 69 cm (27 inches) when sheathed.

Blade Markings: Stamped “Mre d’Armes de St. Etienne – Mai 1873” along the spine, indicating manufacture at the prestigious Saint-Étienne arsenal.

Guard: Brass hilt with spring catch mechanism intact, complete with a steel crossguard and classic hooked quillon.

Scabbard: Original steel scabbard, blued finish, with some light pitting and minor dents consistent with age.

Historical Note:
This model served extensively during the Franco-Prussian War (1870–71) and remained in use through the early 20th century, with documented examples still fielded by French reserve and colonial forces during World War
