Monthly Stamp / Philatelic Auction - Rare | Collectable | GB & Worldwide
A highly collectible Cotswold First Day Cover issued to commemorate the centenary of Sir Winston Churchill’s birth on 9 October 1974. The cover features four beautifully designed stamps portraying Churchill at different stages of his remarkable life: as a War Correspondent in South Africa (10p), Secretary of War and Air in 1919 (8p), Prime Minister in 1940 (5½p), and in Royal Yacht Squadron Uniform (4½p). The envelope bears a Preston, Lancs first-day postmark dated 9 OCT 1974, and the illustration depicts Blenheim Palace, Churchill’s birthplace. Produced by Cotswold Covers, this is an excellent philatelic tribute to Britain’s wartime leader and one of the most significant historical figures of the 20th century.
